Quid pro quo:

"’What for what’ in Latin, most often means a more-or-less equal exchange or substitution of goods or services.”  Wikipedia

If you are like me, as an artist, I am cash poor and very much in need of marketing exposure.  Simply, I need to get my name, contact info, and work out there and seen by more of the right people, if I only knew an outlet designed to find them.  I am very excited to convey what I believe may be a fabulous solution for you and me.  This year the insightful Eastwood Rotary Club has arrived at the ultimate quid pro quo for artists with their CNY Art Showcase magazine and Live Auction!:

Artists get access to these benefits of real value:

Here is how you and I can participate in this quid pro quo:

     OR

I encourage each of you to consider the benefits of this EXCHANGE!  This is not a donation; this is a quid pro quo.  We get, in my opinion, more value for our art or cash than we could otherwise obtain.  We have the possibility of our original creations being seen at the Everson and access to their art-interested audience.  The Everson Museum of Art is this year’s beneficiary of the Club’s generosity.  This is a win-win for all of us.

Every cash-paying artist is guaranteed a half-page space in the magazine.  Given the limited space, the Eastwood Rotary Club reserves all rights for selection of which artists who pay in-kind with art will be in the magazine.  All artists have the possibility to be juried into the Everson’s Juried Preview.  All artists included in the magazine have the chance to sign up for a table at the Live Auction!, on a first come first served basis.  I hope you see the possibilities for a real benefit here, for yourself and our community.

Join me!  Submit all contact info, bio, and jpeg images ASAP:  cnyartsc@gmail.com

The final deadline for all art or cash must be delivered by February 1.  Get it done quickly so our friends at the Eastwood Rotary Club can get the magazine produced ASAP and provide artists maximum visibility.  Their mission is straightforward and a bull’s-eye for us:

"The CNY Art Showcase magazine and associated events seek to be the best promotion of art by established and emerging artists in CNY while providing a superior marketing value to our supporters with all net proceeds being used for charitable and educational purposes."

I am looking forward to seeing you at the Everson for the Juried Preview March 24 – April 19; the reception for the Juried Preview Thursday April 12th 5 – 6:30PM; and the Live Auction! at Traditions at the Links at Erie Village Friday April 20th  5 – 8PM.

Consider your best strategy for maximum exposure and act quickly!  cnyartsc@gmail.com  Thanks!

Our quid pro quo for the CNY Art Showcase & Live Action! 2012:

·      Applications to participate are due by February 1, 2012.  Contact cnyartsc@gmail.com to submit and to correspond.

·      This is the third year the Eastwood Rotary Club is publishing the CNY Art Showcase magazine and conducting the Live Auction! event.  The magazine should be printed and distributed to numerous art and public outlets by March 24th.  The Live Auction! will be held at Traditions at the Links at Erie Village Friday April 20, 5 – 8PM.

·      All artwork (two pieces each valued at a minimum of $200 ) or $395 cash become the property of the Eastwood Rotary Club to be used in its efforts to generate money for its designated not-for-profit beneficiaries.  Here is their mission statement:

"The CNY Art Showcase magazine and associated events seek to be the best promotion of art by established and emerging artists in CNY while providing a superior marketing value to our supporters with all net proceeds being used for charitable and educational purposes."

·      All participating artists will enjoy a half-page four-color space with 90 word brief bio or descriptive info about your artwork in the CNY Art Showcase magazine.  The magazine is an “evergreen” publication – a guide to CNY art, artists and services - that will provide value before, during and long after the auction itself. It will be in circulation for one full year.

·      This is the first year to offer artists the possibility to be seen at the Everson Museum of Art for a Juried Preview of submitted art or art featured via paid ad.  The Juried Preview will be on view from Saturday March 24 – April 19.  There will be a reception for artists, the public and Everson members Thursday April 12, 5 – 6:30PM.

·      The Live Auction! is just that.  Your artwork will be auctioned to a room full of interested and art savvy buyers.  All proceeds go the help the Everson Museum of Art and the Eastwood Rotary Club’s philanthropic projects.

·      All participating artists (cash or exchange of art) have an opportunity to show (and sell) more of your work that evening.  Artists, who alert us early will receive a table space.  Space is limited to the first 18 artists who request the space.  Artists’ attendance or showing of additional works at the Live Auction! is purely voluntary and has no bearing on the arrangements to be featured in the magazine. Any sale of that work will go directly/entirely to the artists.

·      Participating artists will be given one free ticket (any additional tickets must be paid for) for the buffet dinner and auction event.

Roles and Responsibilities: Artists submitting artwork in as payment.

Use cnyartsc@gmail.com for all correspondence.

As a participating artist we will need you to agree to the following conditions:

1.   Submit two pieces or collections that would sell for at least $200 each.  These will be your works to be featured in the magazine.

2.   Delivery of these items due February 1 or before:   LOCATION will be sent to you.

3.   An artist will provide a very brief biography (approx. 90 words) to be placed next to your images in the publication. Do not send long bios that need to be edited.  Please send one that you feel best complements the self-image you wish to convey.

4.   Submit application ASAP online and a second copy when delivering artwork.

5.   Submit photos of the artwork for immediate use in the selection process.  When selected submit digital images of the artwork.*** The files must be a minimum  of 1 MB (1000 KB) at 300 dpi, jpg or tiff formats.  *** If you cannot produce high-quality digital images of your artwork you must contact us immediately. We will make arrangements to photograph the art. The digital images and all requests for photography are to be sent to: cnyartsc@gmail.com. Please put “images” in the subject heading of your email message.

6.   Agree that photos of submitted artwork may be used by the Club/Foundation in promotional efforts for the magazine and Festival/Auction.

7.   Understand that The Eastwood Rotary Club and Foundation has final say of the selection and magazine layout of all submitted work. All submitted work must be suitable for viewing by a broad audience. Understand the number of artists is budget limited.  FIRST COME FIRST SERVED.

8.   Understand that we are fully aware that auctions are generally not the best places to secure full value for even the finest art pieces. The full-value you as an artist will be receiving is derived from being featured in the magazine. Our experience to date is that pieces listed over $500 may be more difficult to elicit close-to-value bids, however, that varies with the particular work and attendees present.

I have read and agree to the outlined conditions and am submitting work to be considered for inclusion in the 2012 CNY Art Showcase Magazine.
